Dream Team

This afternoon I received a gift in the mail that made my day. The mother of a former client recently wrote a book and I was lucky enough to be given a copy hot off the presses.

The book, High Functioning Autism: Advice From A Mom From Diagnosis to Recovery was written by Ashley Morgan (pen name). Ashley is well known for her websitewww.hiddenrecovery.com .

I started reading the book tonight. As soon as I’m done it will be on the coffee table in the Center’s parent room and serve as a wonderful resource for parents navigating the complex terrain of raising a child with high functioning autism

While I have not yet finished the book I can’t say for sure- but it is possible- that the first page is the best:

Included in the list of  “Acknowledgments” :

“Dream Team: Gail Felice, Annamarie Jordan, and Colleen Sullivan [Balash] from The Center for Growth & Development”

“Melissa Murtough for giving me hope for this generation of educators.”

Of course I know these women to be remarkable (keep in mind I was smart enough to hire all of them), but there is something about seeing it in print that makes it feel official. How extraordinary to be given such a public “thank you”.
