Ava Moves Along
Ava is 7 years old and attends a private school with the support of a Center for Growth & Development ABA therapist. Upon her arrival at school, her therapist is waiting to make sure her transition from drop off into the classroom is smooth and she is ready to start the day. She spends her morning participating in a regular education class. Her therapist supports her by modifying work, implementing a behavior plan, teaching self-monitoring of behaviors, and targeting social skills by facilitating interactions with peers. Ava has made strong progress this year and now reliably responds to her teacher’s directions during group lessons and joins in games with peers during recess.
Following her morning at school, Ava returns to The Center and works 1:1 with her therapist in our “mini classroom” where she can receive the teaching support, sensory breaks, and reinforcement necessary to make her day successful. She continues to work on her academic skills, learning in a classroom setting, social skills, and adaptive life skills.
Additionally, Ava attends The Center’s social skills group and Adaptive Ballet class with the support of her ABA team. She receives Occupational Therapy (OT) to target fine motor skills such as handwriting, and these strategies are practiced in ABA and utilized in her school setting to ensure continuous progress of handwriting fluency.
