Speech Therapy
A Speech and Language Pathologist, also referred to as a “Speech Therapist,” is a professional who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of communication issues. Speech therapists work with children with Autism to improve their communicative abilities. This can include assessment of speech and language and implementation of treatment. Speech & Language Pathologists work with your child to:
- Develop oral motor awareness and control
- Improve eating and drinking skills
- Improve ability to imitate sounds
- Produce sounds, words and phrases
- Improve functional use of language
- Improve functional use of language
- Improve ability to generate meaningful language
- Improve conversational and social language

Occupational Therapy (OT)
An Occupational Therapist supports and promotes the development and engagement of individuals in everyday routines. These routines include play, activities of daily living, education, social participation and sleep/rest. The four main areas OT’s target are: Gross motor, Fine motor, Self-care, and Sensory.
OT works with your child to improve:
- Core strength
- Gross motor coordination
- Shoulder and hand strength
- Fine motor coordination including: grasp, release, and manipulate toys
- Hand-eye coordination including: ball skills, drawing, motor imitation
- Written communication including: handwriting, typing, using a device
- Dressing skills including: taking clothes and shoes on/off; completing fasteners, orienting clothes
- Bathroom skills including: toileting, brushing teeth, washing hands
- Improving attention and focus
- Teaching self-regulation
- Helping children who over- or under-react to touch, sounds and textures
