Center parents were afforded a wonderful opportunity to be a part of a round table discussion with attorney Rebecca Iannatuoni last night. Rebecca has the unique perspective of being both an attorney that works with families who have special needs children, and a special needs parent herself.
She provided thoughtful, and often humorous, insight in to effective parent participation in the PPT process and strategies to promote meaningful communication with a child’s school team.
Additionally, Rebecca offered information on special needs planning and entitlements. Typically a topic that is overwhelming to discuss, Rebecca encouraged parents to embrace the process of estate planning, and provided clear, concise explanations regarding preserving eligibility for government benefits, supplementing those benefits, and preserving family wealth for judicious distribution among family members.
We are very grateful to Rebecca for being so generous in sharing her wisdom and valuable professional and personal experience with us. We thoroughly enjoyed the great conversations last night.
